EPOXY FLOORING SYSTEMS

Epoxy is one of the most widely used floor coating resins. Given its versatility as covering and protectant for concrete, it can be installed in many different ways. It can also handle the addition of additives, such as aggregates, which are designed to create strong, anti-slip, and impact-resistant surfaces.

Additives can also be used simply to enhance the aesthetics of the flooring. However, one important limitation is the fact that epoxy is generally only used over floor slabs that experience dry, consistent temperature conditions. Epoxy is right at home in retail, office, hospitality and healthcare environments.

Epoxy Flake Floors

This is another very decorative type recreating the look of terrazzo using paint flakes of different sizes with endless choices – ideal for garage floors and throughout residential and commercial spaces, public areas such as swimming pool surrounds.

Polyurethane Flooring System

Polyurethane flooring is designed to provide performance benefits under more challenging conditions. Polyurethane floors can stand up to wet conditions, as well as, extreme temperature changes. These are environmental factors that would cause epoxy flooring to fail.

Polyaspartic Flooring System

Typical polyurea and polyaspartic floor coatings are applied in just two coats; the first being both the primer and colour coat and the second being the clear coat. Because of their fast cure rates, a complete flooring system can be installed in two days.

There are many other benefits to a polyaspartic floor coating as well. These include:

  • 100% U.V. stability – they will never yellow.
  • Crystal clear finish that won’t blush from moisture in the concrete.
  • Similar high abrasion and scratch resistance to polyurethane.
  • High tolerance to heat, meaning hot tire pick up is a non-issue.
  • High film build-up that can be controlled by the applicator.
  • High gloss finish
  • High solids content with little to no VOC’s in most applications
  • High stain and chemical resistance.
  • Good flexibility for higher impact resistance.
  • Excellent wetting characteristics allowing for good penetration into the concrete for a strong bond.

Polyurea Protective Coatings

Polyurea is a spray applied protective coating that can be used for coating, sealing, joining, repair and waterproofing of virtually all vertical and horizontal surfaces.

As a fast curing, thick film coating, polyurea is a logical solution when seamless, durable membranes are needed for waterproofing. Additional characteristics such as slip-resistant additives and surface textures can also be incorporated. It can be coloured, and is even available in a potable-water-approved formulation. With such a wide range of performance characteristics, the range of suitable applications is also broad. Tank linings, secondary containment and bridge coatings are some of the most popular uses, but the application possibilities are endless.

Perhaps its greatest advantage is that it sets up extremely quickly, allowing the applicator to build up a finished thickness in a single pass. This allows the owner to put the facility back in service many times faster than traditional coatings, saving days or even weeks of revenue lost to down-time.
